With so many lunchrooms in Amsterdam, it’s obviously hard to choose. You’ve probably already found a favorite, but there are of course many more fun and cozy lunch restaurants for children. 24NANNIES lists the best addresses for parents and guardians.
Ijsland
In the Rivierenbuurt in Amsterdam-South you will find the cozy IJsland. The name says it all, you can get delicious ice cream here; it is prepared on the spot with the freshest ingredients. For the fruit ice cream, no milk or cream is used. For the children there are children’s pancakes on the menu and for the parents there are filled pancakes with, for example, Mexican chicken or boeuf bourguignon. The pancakes are prepared with homemade sourdough batter. This ensures an extra crispy and tasty lunch. For the kids there are also toys ready.

Go to the green Vondelpark and walk to the former stables on the edge of the park for a very special lunch spot: here your (babysitting) children can cook and serve themselves! At the bar there are pictures of what the kids can make. What do you think of self-made pizza or vegetable puzzles? But don’t worry, you don’t have to cook yourself. There are also sandwiches, sandwiches and soup available. Near the building you will also find a terrace and a playground.

Noorderlicht
Of course, the hip Amsterdam-North should not be missing from this list. At the creative NDSM wharf you will find the atmospheric café and restaurant Noorderlicht. Take a seat in the bright glasshouse or, weather permitting (hopefully we’ll get a few more windless and sunny days) on the lovely terrace, where your children can romp around on the lawn. For parents and children, there is plenty to choose from: while you enjoy a sandwich with home-cooked veal, your (babysitting) children can enjoy fresh fries with mayonnaise or a vegan soup. All main courses can also be ordered as a children’s portion for half price.

At Lunchroom Lastig, near the Jaap Eden IJsbaan, your kids are guaranteed to have a great time. This establishment even has its own game room! Here your kids can play a game of pool or a computer game. There are also toys for the smaller kids and there is even a table they can chalk on. The menu offers hot dogs and sandwiches, but also delicious sandwiches and Indonesian specialties. How about Mama’s nasi goreng or a pistolet rendang?

Radion café
Radion? That’s the place where you can go crazy on the weekends, right? That’s right, but during the day things are a little quieter at the Radion Café. The lunch menu offers something for everyone. Tosti’s for the little ones and an exotic mandarin coconut salad or a pulled pork sandwich for yourself. Doesn’t sound wrong, does it? Plus, there’s plenty of room for the kids to play. And if their enthusiasm makes them not listen, you can always bribe them with a nice scoop of ice cream.
